FAQ

The Domain Name System (DNS) is the phone book of the Internet, translating human readable addresses like electricembers.net to computer IP addresses like 208.90.215.75. A DNS lookup happens every time you send an email or browse to a Web site. A records (Address) tell the Internet which server hosts your Web site. MX records (Mail eXchanger) tell the Internet where to send email for your domain. DNS is a basic, essential, and automatic part of the Internet as we know it.

When you visit a Registrar (we recommend GKG) and register your domain name, part of the process is to tell them which nameservers will be authoritative. The other nameservers on the Internet look to the authoritative nameservers (your DNS host) to find out about your domain name.

If Electric Embers will host your DNS, you must change your nameservers to:

              ns1.electricembers.net
              ns2.electricembers.net
              ns3.electricembers.net
              ns4.electricembers.net
You should also make us the technical contact for your domain. If your registrar is GKG, please use the username "hostmaster@electricembers.net". If you're using Network Solutions as a registrar, use the NIC handle "35439351P". For Gandi, use the handle "EEH2-GANDI". Otherwise, use this information:
              Electric Embers Hostmaster
              hostmaster@electricembers.net
              PO Box 460454
              San Francisco CA 94146-0454
              US
              (800) 843-6197
